AT YOGA FOR EVERY BODY WE STAND FOR UNITY, NO EXCEPTIONS.
We are standing on the edge of a precipice in New Zealand. Tomorrow, 3rd December, our country will be divided. There is no way to “pretty up” that fact. Segregation never ends well. We all know this, yet so many are in the throes of normalizing it right here, right now in our country, because they’ve been told to. Because they think there is no other choice.
There is always a choice.
We stand for unity, no exceptions.
A foundational principle of yoga is Ahimsa: non-violence. We despair to see the seeds of violence sown in the yoga garden by the government with a mandate saying that a selection of people can no longer attend our classes, and that we may no longer teach our classes, depending on a medical choice. If we acquiesce these demands the weeds of discrimination will forever plague the garden.
This can all end if enough people say no.
As it stands, because we are absolutely not willing to cultivate discrimination under any circumstances, we are forced to step away from yoga and meditation teaching from today.
This affects:
Monday evening Geraldine (Leigh)
Wednesday morning Timaru (Leigh) Wednesday evening meditation circles (Leigh)
Wednesday evening Timaru (Trudi)
Thursday chair yoga for seniors (Leigh)
Friday morning Geraldine (Leigh)
Plus all private sound healing and yoga clients.
This is a great shame. So many are in need. But we cannot say that it is enough to share our guidance with a majority at the exclusion of a minority. That this desire overshadows the principle of Ahimsa.
Unity. No exceptions.
We will devote our energies towards a beautiful future, where we can all stand united. You are essential in the creation of that future. This only ends when we all stop participating.
Namaste
Leigh, Trudi and Isaac
